Dirty Jobs-Bartholomew County Humane Society

We figured if we were going to a dirty job, then we should consider helping the regular volunteers at the Humane Society. The temperature was hovering in the 90's that day--not the most comfortable weather to walk dogs and scoop poop. It's a dirty job, but, somebody has to do it.

Jimmy Ryser's rise to fame came with the 1990 hit 'Same Old Look.' He populated that fame again in August of 2002 when he belted out the National Anthem accapella for spectators at the Brickyard 400 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Jimmy has been playing music since he was 6 years old. This was a source of pain management due to being born with a birth defect called Spina Bifida. He has never forgotten this pain and chose a career that would allow him to help others that deal with a lifetime of pain.
Jimmy graduated top ten from Indiana University, completed a Master's Degree in Counseling from John Carroll University and an internship at Cleveland Clinic Hospital. He now works as an addiction and chronic pain therapist at the Chronic Pain Management Rehabilitation Center at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

The Sizzle and I have to say that this was one of the most enjoyable challenges that we have had or foresee having in the future. He is very down to earth and LOVED talking about his grandson, Luke. (Can you believe this guy is a granddad?!)

John Goll, LMFT, was very informative in his Who's Driving Your Bus? seminar. There is a delicate balance within people and when interacting with people as well. The PowerPoint below illustrates which archetype is dominate in each of us and how it correlates back to us as a team. We discussed our diversity in our team description at the beginning of the race and this ties it together nicely.

We had so much fun working at the Kiwanis booth at the 4H fair. We schucked a lifetime of corn and met several members of the Kiwanis and Columbus East High School Boosters.
Everyone was so easy going and they put us at ease right away. We definately encourage all to visit the Kiwanis booth for their delicious dinner (we suggest the superbly seasoned half chicken dinner!)

Q-Mix Fireworks

The CYP party at the Q-Mix firworks allowed us to meet Matt, Erin, Michelle and Chris from team C.E.M.M. (Amanda's daughter Lilah was happy to meet them, too!)

We had a lot of fun at the fireworks! We got a picture of the fireworks through our 3D glasses we picked up at one of the booths at the learning center.

Even Mason, Amanda's son, couldn't keep his eyes off the fireworks display!

She is an Assistant Executive Manager at Garland Brook Cemetery. Amanda and her husband, Steve have two children Mason and Lilah. Rachel is wild and crazy, fun to be around, and can make a person feel right at home. She is the Manager at Personal Finance Company. Rachel and her husband, Zac, are new parents of a daughter, Zayda. Kristen is honest, loves to talk and can really tell it like it is! She is a Styling Specialist at La Mode 607 and enjoys spending time with her boyfriend, Larry and their daughter, Kamryn. Jenny loves to talk, fun to be around and is very giving. She is a Quality Manager of Engineering at Cummins Fuel Systems. Jenny has been married to her husband, Tim, for almost two years.
